TROLLI - Mouth Monster

Trolli - Mouth Monster

Directed by Becky And Joe

Puppets by Nathan & Joshua Flynn

2020

Here are some more Trolli monsters that we made for their latest stop motion commercial.

The ‘Ugly’ Mouth Monster was made by Josh from a mixture of different materials. The puppet stands 40cm tall so keeping the weight down was a priority to allow for easier rigging and animation. The slimy dripping torso features multiple articulated mouths each with rows of teeth and tongues, as well as glowing UV eyes. The arms and legs were sculpted, moulded and cast in silicone and latex with wire armatures.

The ‘Cute’ mouth monster was made by Nathan. The faux fur body has multiple sculpted eyes and mouth that can be removed and pinned to the torso. The arms and legs were sculpted, moulded and cast in flexible silicone with wire armatures. The costume was made by Rachel Brown featuring fabric shorts and socks.

To achieve the transformation shot we created a series of replacement bodies that helped transition from purple plasticine to pink fur. These also had a selection of movable limbs, mouth, eyes and slime drops that were cleverly animated by Andy Biddle into a spinning whirlwind.

We were also tasked with making a cast of small scale villagers to occupy the burning town. These six puppets were made by Laura Tofarides featuring fully articulated bodies and replacement facial features. their felt costumes were made by Rachel Brown. Props and a pair of upscaled villager legs were made by Stephanie Howell.
