I was very lucky to be asked by my friends Adeena Grubb & Andy Biddle to supply the Hummingbird puppet for this quirky stop motion commercial. I made two versions in total, a large scale puppet for close ups and a miniature version measuring just 2cm tall for wider shots where he interacts with the female character.
He was made from hundreds of dyed and hand cut cotton jersey feathers as well as carved balsa wood to match director Adeena Grubb’s signature tactile, handcrafted asthetic. He featured rolling eyeballs, sliding blinks, replacement brows for different expressions plus removable open and folded wings for flying and sitting poses.
